TIME ZONES

Timezone Converter

Convert a date and time from one time zone to another, then compare the same moment across several cities.

Convert time between time zones

Choose the zone your time is written in, enter the date and time, and pick the zone you want to convert to. The result shows the converted date and time, the offsets involved and how far apart the two zones are at that moment. Zone names come from the IANA time zone database built into your browser, so they follow current daylight saving rules.

Compare several time zones

Below the converter, the same moment is shown in a list of cities: UTC, New York, London, Paris, Dubai, Tokyo and Algiers by default. Add or remove any IANA zone to build a list that matches your team, meeting or customers.

Why region names instead of EST or IST

Abbreviations such as EST, CST or IST are ambiguous (IST can mean India, Ireland or Israel) and do not say whether daylight saving time applies. Region names such as America/New_York carry the complete history of rule changes, which is why the tool uses them.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the tool handle daylight saving time?
It uses the rules for the exact date you enter. If the time falls in a spring-forward gap, it tells you the time does not exist. If it falls in a fall-back overlap, it uses the first occurrence and tells you.
Which time zones are available?
Every IANA time zone your browser supports, usually more than 400. The most common ones are listed first.
Does the converter need an internet connection?
Only to load the page. Conversions run locally in your browser using the built-in Intl.DateTimeFormat, and nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
Why is Algiers UTC+1 all year?
Algeria uses Central European Time all year and does not observe daylight saving time.
