TIMESTAMP

Timestamp to Date

Turn a Unix timestamp into a date you can read, with the weekday, day of the year and ISO week number.

Convert a Unix timestamp to a readable date

Databases, logs and API responses often show moments as a bare number such as 1709164800. This page turns that number into a date you can read: the full weekday and date in UTC and in your local time zone, plus the ISO 8601 form you can use in code.

Calendar details included

Besides the date itself, the tool shows the day of the week, the day of the year (1 to 366), the ISO 8601 week number and whether the year is a leap year. These details are calculated from the UTC date.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert a Unix timestamp to a date in JavaScript?
Use new Date(timestampInSeconds * 1000). Multiply by 1,000 because the Date constructor expects milliseconds. Call toISOString() on the result for a UTC string.
How do I convert a timestamp to a date in Python?
datetime.fromtimestamp(ts, tz=timezone.utc) returns a timezone-aware datetime in UTC. Divide by 1,000 first if the value is in milliseconds.
Why do UTC and local time show different times?
UTC is the global reference. Local time is UTC plus your time zone's offset, including daylight saving time when it applies.
What is an ISO week number?
ISO 8601 numbers weeks starting on Monday, and week 1 is the week that contains the year's first Thursday. Because of this, days in early January can belong to week 52 or 53 of the previous year.
